Our Level 3 Metrology Technician Apprenticeship is delivered on-site at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). Our programme delivers measurement skills for a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing.
The UK nations have different administrative arrangements for funding apprenticeships; NPL Training is approved by the Education and Skills Funding agency as a training provider to deliver apprenticeship training to employers based in England.
The Level 3 Metrology Technician Standard was approved for delivery in August 2017 and is the first nationally recognised standard on metrology, the science of measurement. This apprenticeship standard was developed by the Metrology Trailblazer, an employer group chaired by NPL, to ensure an apprenticeship of high quality, with a focus on the right knowledge, skills and behaviours, is available for metrology technicians.
Our apprentices come to us from employers spanning different sectors across England — some are early-career apprentices in their first jobs, others are established employees looking to upskill or change roles to address the needs of their businesses.
There is no upper age limit for apprenticeships.
