PV Module Performance Measurements and Energy Rating

Photovoltaic system against a cloudy sky.

Solar power relies on photovoltaic (PV) technology, and measuring the performance of PV modules is important. By reducing the measurement uncertainty in this process, we can help implement more thorough risk assessments that build confidence for financial investment. Accurate prediction of the energy yield of a given installation with small uncertainties can increase the confidence in the technology and reduce the cost of finance.

The aim of this course is to introduce the audience to PV module metrology for power and energy rating, describe the necessary components, equipment and procedures for measurements of PV modules according to the standards and act like a good practice guide for PV metrologists and laboratories.

This course also intends to train PV metrologists in the use of PV energy rating and establish a good practice guide for energy rating measurements of PV modules and uncertainty calculations. Metrologists will also be introduced to guidelines in measuring non-conventional PV modules, such as bifacial technology products.

This course consists of three modules.
