Composites Standards and Certification — Classroom
Classroom-based
Overview
NPL offers bespoke training around Composites Standards and Certification, which can be delivered flexibly, either in-person or virtually. This course comprises several lectures that:
Provide learners with an understanding of the need for suitable Regulations, Codes and Standards (RCS) for composite materials
Give learners an overview of the certification process of composite structures in a number of industry sectors
Enable learners to analyse qualification test data and obtain appropriate design data
There are also three practical sessions on:
Interpretation and application of BS EN ISO 14126 Fibre-reinforced plastic composites – Determination of compressive properties in the in-plane direction
Calculation of B-basis values for longitudinal compression strength of a carbon epoxy pre-preg material
Development of a basic qualification programme for a deep-water composite riser
Learners who successfully complete the course will receive an NPL Certificate of Completion. Please contact NPL Training for further details.
Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to:
Understand how standards are created and their relation to regulations and codes
Interpret and use composite materials standards
Choose the right test method and standard for qualifying composite materials and certifying structures
Understand how to statistically analyse test data to obtain design data for composite materials
