New course available: ‘Uncertainty Evaluation for Quantitative MRI Relaxation Parameters’

NPL Training, together with the NPL MRI and Data Science teams, have just launched a new, free e-learning course: Uncertainty Evaluation for Quantitative MRI Relaxation Parameters.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used clinically for many years, but image interpretation is almost always qualitative. Quantitative MRI (qMRI) is becoming increasingly common, but the uncertainty associated with the measurements obtained is rarely discussed. This course explains how to use MR image data to obtain estimates of MRI relaxation parameters, as well as the uncertainties associated with those estimates.

This is the third course available in NPL’s MRI Metrology suite of e-learning courses, which also includes ‘Metrology for MRI’ and ‘Uncertainty Evaluation for Quantitative MRI Fat Fraction’. The suite of courses aims to provide:

  • introductions to metrology as applied to MRI and quantitative MRI
  • approaches to evaluating uncertainty in the particular examples of two MRI biomarker types, fat fraction and relaxation parameters

Our ‘Uncertainty Evaluation for Quantitative MRI Relaxation Parameters’ course was created for MR physicists who want to learn how to obtain parameter estimates from a fitted model and evaluate the uncertainties of those parameter estimates.

All courses in the MRI Metrology suite are free of charge and can be accessed via our Course Catalogue.
