A Training framework for technicians, practitioners and experts

Our training courses have been categorised according to technical level and aligned to the qualification levels in the Regulated Qualifications Framework. Learners can take ownership of their learning pathway, progressing from entry through to expert level by combining a series of training courses which deliver the right skills for your role.

Target audienceNPL Entry level courses are suitable for wider audience who wishesto understand the fundamentals of metrology and the underpinning relevance of measurement science.

They are ideal for learners who:
– require basic elements of measurement science in their role;
– starting a career which relies on measurement science; o may want to ‘refresh’ their understanding to support their on-the-job experience.
NPL Intermediate level courses are suitable for students or industrial practitioners wishing to further their understanding beyond the fundamental principles of a given subject, in order to acquire in-depth technical knowledge and practical know-how.

They are ideal for learners who:- Use / or apply measurement knowledge and expertise professionally;
– Need a level of understanding that allows them to make decisions in everyday contexts, and activities;
– Understand when to refer to colleagues with greater expertise.
NPL Advanced level courses are suitable for industry or research professionals and undergraduate students or apprentices looking to build on existing knowledge of a specific subject to gain a detailed understanding of measurement science and its application to the field of interest.

They are ideal for learners who:
– Development and maintain the business measurement strategy;
– Develop measurement plans to create and/ implement standard operating procedures;
– Implement auditing and reviewing processes;
– Metrology-related project management activities.
NPL Expert level courses are suitable for industry or scientific specialists and postgraduate research students or apprentices seeking to obtain leading-edge knowledge and skills in measurement science and related applications. This could either be within an academic or industrial environment.

They are ideal for learners who:
– Generate new standards;
– Develop and apply leading-edge measurement skills and knowledge;
– Make pioneering scientific advances in their field of research or industry.

– Make pioneering scientific advances in their field of research or industry.

Learners can progress through the framework from entry through to expert level building their knowledge, skills and behaviours.
